The human body is an incredibly adaptive system. When placed in a caloric deficit, it initially loses weight, but this progress eventually stalls. Evolution has designed our bodies to survive on less energy when necessary, leading to adaptations like reduced thyroid function, decreased non-exercise activity (NEAT), and lowering energy for training. This means that what was once a caloric deficit now becomes the new baseline.

To achieve long-term success in weight management, we need a dynamic approach to setting caloric deficits. In this episode, we'll cover strategies for periodization, exploring both microcycles and macrocycles, and how to arrange macronutrients to support health and body composition outcomes.
