Jesus accomplished what the law could never do on its own; free us from our sin. In Him, all debts are forgiven.

“The kingdom of God is like a king who decided to square accounts with his servants. As he got under way, one servant was brought before him who had run up a debt of a hundred thousand dollars. He couldn’t pay up, so the king ordered the man, along with his wife, children, and goods, to be auctioned off at the slave market.

“The poor wretch threw himself at the king’s feet and begged, ‘Give me a chance and I’ll pay it all back.’ Touched by his plea, the king let him off, erasing the debt.
- Matthew 18:23-27 MSG

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

- Acts 13:38-39 NASB 1995

This week we read Matthew 6:9-13 from the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) version. We also read from Luke 7:41-42, 1 John 1:8-9, and Matthew 26:27-28.

What does it look like to give God your debt? His kindness is what leads us to repentance.

Blessing you to receive God’s goodness, forgiveness, and love! Amen.
