Jillian Acosta is a registered dietitian specializing in functional medicine and the psychology of eating. She owns The Root Cause Method, a nutrition practice where she helps clients achieve health through unconventional methods. Jillian believes many chronic illnesses, often worsened by excess weight, stem from trauma. She collaborates with physicians who use psychedelics to help clients change their relationship with food, emotions, and self. Her goal is to address the factors shaping our relationship with food to prevent and reverse chronic illnesses, leading to true fulfillment and connection.

  • Jillian shares how her personal battle with emotional eating started as young as 3 years old, leading her to become a dietitian and explore deeper healing methods.
  • She explains how psychedelics therapy, like ketamine, help people rewire their brains, release trauma, and develop compassion for themselves.
  • Jillian talks about how the brain’s “default mode network” keeps us stuck in self-critical thinking and how psychedelic therapy allows it to go “offline” for healing to happen.
  • She describes her program, “The Garden,” where she helps women uproot emotional “weeds” planted by trauma using gentle psychedelic therapy.
  • Jillian talks about how nurturing self-compassion daily can transform self-judgment and bring real change to people’s lives.
  • Jillian explains that trauma, big or small, can influence our self-worth and behaviors, but healing is possible when we confront it.
