Pay attention to how public health policy changes impact daily life in your healthcare organization and take action to advocate for change consistent with your values.
Aaron Katz shares his view of healthcare from the zoomed-out 30,000-foot public policy level. Take a step back to look at the world of healthcare and consider how the daily lives of clinicians are impacted by local, state, and national policy decisions.

We consider the impacts these pressures have on daily clinical life, ranging from the length of patient appointments to the loss of federal protection for abortion rights. As we consider these formidable challenges, Aaron highlights the simple actions we can take to begin impacting local and national policy.

We spend time reflecting on the underlying values of our healthcare system. And we consider the challenges and benefits of some alternative health systems in our global community.

Please take the time to reflect on one step that you, as an individual, can take to engage with health policy at the hyper-local or national level.

And as always, thank you for listening!
Bio: Aaron Katz is a Principal Lecturer Emeritus at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health.
