Today's thoughts: We place too much importance on our emotions. Bad moods are OK if we allow ourselves to sit in them - what happens when we start to use emotions as information? We're able to jump from emotion to emotion without judgement and to notice patterns that cause certain emotions to arise. What prompted this: Sitting on the Charles river trying to work through a shitty mood. Workshop it: Next time you're in a bad mood...go to a place where you can be in your head, take 3 deep breaths. Those breaths allow you to look objectively at the emotions. Then, you can reflect on what's caused the bad mood. Today's thoughts: There are so many factors that feed into how we perceive our body, both positive and negative. If we start to notice patterns, we can start to breakdown negative body image while it's happening. What prompted this: Noticing how the perception of my body had changed in just a matter of hours after working out. Workshop it: Next time you catch yourself with bad body image - start to think about what else is going on in your life (what have you eaten, how have you moved - or not moved, your mood, etc.). What prompted this: A question asked by a woman sitting in the audience of a panel I sat on, "reach your resolutions." Workshop it: 1) Do something for yourself - it doesn't need to be anything fancy, it can be 10 minutes of reading, writing, drawing, walking. Think about what activity makes you feel good that costs $0. 2) Pick up odd jobs to bring in $$$. 3) Find ways to be thrifty. Today's thoughts: It's so important to be protective of your energy and who you give it to -- especially when it comes to hooking up. It's crucial to listen to your gut in these situations...if you're not feeling it, LEAVE! What prompted this: (PG version) I went back to a guy's apartment when I wasn't fully into it. (PG-13 version) We were making out on his bed and all I could think about was how I was not into it and how my energy and attention were not there at all. Sooo I peaced tf out.
