Why do we have limiting beliefs?
Most often limiting beliefs are unconscious thoughts, which appear as defense mechanisms to avoid possible hurt, frustrations, failure, and disappointment. At a time in the past, you may have suffered from something specific, and now when you come face-to-face with a similar feeling situation, your subconscious finds a way to try to block it. The conditioned self’s job is to maintain homeostasis, no matter the cost.
So, how can you eliminate these limiting beliefs?
They won’t go away from forced positive thinking. That’s like pumping expensive gasoline into a car that doesn’t run.
Awareness is the place to start. Identify your Groundhog Day. What’s the recurring situation or outcome your experience in relationships, business, your finances, that isn’t working for you. Start to recognize that moment you realize “how did I get myself here, again”.
Everywhere I go, there I am. It can be very frustrating. Limiting beliefs are at the root of depression, anxiety, stress, sleep issues, muscle tension, headache, and fatigue, just to name a few.
“Any obstacle in your environment or your experience is rooted in your thinking.”
When entrepreneurs ask about why it’s so difficult to scale their business; I respond that my experience in working with business owners from all industries is always the same.
“The thinking that got you here is not the thinking that will get you accelerated growth. The urgency is not in the business or in the market, instead in paying attention to shifting your thoughts. Scaling a business or raising your level of fulfillment in your life is an inside job.”
There is no quick fix, but there is a method for releasing limiting beliefs and opening up to all that’s possible. Doing the inner work can seem daunting but I can assure you, I know the way out. The possibilities are limitless.
