Today I’m going to dive into a real-life scenario that was shared by a fellow freelancer over on LinkedIn. It’s a situation that I thought was really important because many of us can relate to it, and it’s all about setting boundaries and protecting yourself as a freelancer.

If you’re in a situation where you faced clients with unreasonable demands, then this episode is for you. I'll provide important lessons for freelancers, particularly writers, on how to handle such situations. Discover the dos and don’ts in freelancing to help you avoid these pitfalls and succeed in this path.

Dos and Don’ts in Freelancing

Key takeaways in this episode:

  • Set clear expectations and boundaries
  • I am sharing some things you need to discuss with the client before you start the project to avoid any surprises along the way and make sure both parties are on the same page.
  • Handling client disputes
  • Stay organized. Keeping records is vital.
  • We have lives outside of work so it’s crucial to communicate boundaries
  • Meet clients once a month but make sure you’re getting paid for it.
  • Always have a contract in place.
