Dr. Margaret Rutherford has been a psychologist with her own private therapy practice for over 25 years. She’s the host of the popular Self Work Podcast and author of the book Perfectly Hidden Depression. In today’s powerful show we focus on the topic of Perfectly Hidden Depression. Dr. Rutherford explains what the syndrome is and why those afflicted don’t find themselves within the criteria for traditional clinical depression. An affliction that can manifest itself in perfectionists, over achievers and extroverts Dr. Rutherford shares why some of these traits can actually be a mechanism to cover up deep hurt. She explains the common traits and characteristics associated with the syndrome. Why far too many fall through the cracks and don’t know where to turn for help. Why this particular form of depression is so difficult to detect and can sadly become a matter of life or death. She describes what the first steps are in trying to heal and what you can do if you or a loved one may be suffering with the syndrome.
