Dr. Ebere Sonoiki spent years going down the path of research working towards a PhD while pushing to the side an “itch” to go to medical school. Why? Fear, more time spent in school, concerns over student loans, the MCAT... Only to find herself years later scratching that itch in her 40s. She ended up going back to her passion and she took a "risk". And now, she's a medical student in her 40s.

On today’s episode, she shares:

  • Why she decided to go to medical school years after getting her PhD.
  • Why she would’ve done things in reverse if she could start over: get her MD first before a PhD.
  • Tips for graduate students and those interested in getting a PhD.
  • Balancing changing careers that are time-consuming with marriage and parenting.
  • Why you should pay attention to your fear…

A story that reminds us that it's never too late to go after what's calling you, even if the path is long, scary and filled with uncertainties.
