A study of the history of cultural conflicts, beyond- the crusades. As far back as the 1870’s in Germany, there have been “organized” Culture struggles. It was at that time a struggle between the German government and the Roman Catholic Church. Kulturkampf was a seven-year political conflict between 1872 and 1878, when the Catholic Church was led by Pope Pius IX, and the Kingdom of Prussia was led by Chancellor Otto von Bismark. The conflict was primarily about education and religious appointments in the Prussian kingdom, which the conflict was whether or not Germany or Prussia was a Roman Catholic nation! Sound familiar?
