Intestinal cancer, called small or large intestine cancer, is when aberrant cells develop uncontrolled in the intestinal lining. It can originate in the small intestine, often as adenocarcinoma, or in the large intestine (colorectal cancer). Risk factors include age, genetic predisposition, inflammatory bowel disease, poor diet, smoking, and alcohol use. Symptoms vary but may include abdominal pain, weight loss, blood in stool, changes in bowel habits, or anaemia. Diagnosis typically involves imaging, endoscopy, and biopsy. In this episode of intestinal cancer, we’ll explore the early warning signs, risk factors, and the latest advancements in prevention and treatment of intestinal cancer.
