Welcome to Your Best Writing Life, an extension of the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference held in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mts of NC. I’m your host, Linda Goldfarb. Each week, I bring tips and strategies from writing and publishing industry experts to help you excel in your craft. I’m so glad you’re listening in. During this episode, you’ll learn about Taxes and the Christian Writer
My industry expert is Patricia Hartman, CPA. For over thirty years, Patricia has been helping business owners set up and maintain their finances and prepare their tax returns. Patricia is also an award-winning author of several books and operates her own writing business. She has written both fiction and non-fiction books and is currently working on both. Besides finishing the third in her Poisoned Suspense series, she’s currently collaborating with an attorney to write one just for you, our writers, on today’s topic.
Today we discuss - the top 10 questions every writer should ask about taxes and business issues.
Legal disclaimer: None of the opinions Patricia gives on this episode should be construed in any way as either tax or legal advice. Patricia is not an attorney and, therefore, cannot give legal opinions. Further, your individual tax situation will inform you of the best way to set up and operate your business. Today’s tips are designed to help you understand what’s involved in the writing business, especially one that honors God. You are always best served by consulting with tax and legal professionals in your jurisdiction.
Note: Patricia Hartman is not currently accepting new tax clients. (Her tax-client quiver is full.) She is providing this information as an act of love to her brothers and sisters in the writing community.
