Today, TINT Event Organizer Nuriye is talking with Vreneli Stadelmaier about impostor syndrome.
This episode is packed with topics! Nuriye and Vreneli touch upon the culturally perceived value of masculine vs. feminine traits and professional fields, what men and women can do to handle this inequality, what impostor syndrome actually is, and how you can get rid of it. They talk about parrots (which might sound weird right now), expectations, and showcasing your successes.

Vreneli has written two books; one called F*ck die onzekerheid and has also been published in English as Sure she can - Crush this insecurity. The second one she named Een slimme meid is op haar toekomst voorbereid or A smart girl is prepared for her future for young adults.

TINT, WISE and Beyond have invited her to speak at the fourth annual Celebration of Women in Science themed ‘Boost your STEM esteem’. This event is on February 15th, 2022 at 19:00. She provides a lecture to inspire all attendees to celebrate their successes in STEM and start seeing themselves as examples for the younger generations of women and girls.

Enjoy this episode!

Show Notes:

  • Make sure to Google the ‘Devaluation Theory’: to learn more about the assumption that women are culturally devalued in society.
  • Reference Man: a Dutch 4-part documentary with Sophie Frankenmolen where she researches the phenomenon of the fact that everything in our culture is referenced by, tested on, and built for a white male of about 1.75m and 80 kgs. https://www.npostart.nl/reference-man/BV_101407436
  • Role models that Vreneli mentioned: Linda de Mol, Jacinda Arden & Oprah Winfrey
