This week's episode features a guide to training execution for distance runners. Learning how to properly execute your training by sticking to the plan while at the same time listening to your body is an important skill that all runners must master. This skill is something that all great runners have mastered and it represents the ability to be in-tune with one's body, but it mostly boils down to discipline. What runners really need to be looking for when it comes to training is boring and simple training that produces results that chip away at your goals bit by bit. And over time, these safe, small gains compound so that you can achieve your potential while at the same time minimizing your risk for injury. Narve Nordås, Norwegian World Bronze Medalist talks about how he has done double threshold twice per week, running twice per day, everyday since 2016. Over time, he got better and better and now, he is not just a World finalist, he is a World bronze medalist. Therefore, learning how to execute your training and stick to your plan is something that all runners must learn how to do in order to reach their full potential. I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout!

In this episode, I discuss:

  • The importance of recognizing your body's warning signs.
  • Strategies for adjusting your training to stay on course toward your goals.
  • Why understanding the difference between pushing through and deviating from your plan is key to long-term success.
  • Tips on how to make single workout adjustments, multi-workout adaptations, and long-term changes when necessary.

Thank you so much to all of my listeners for the support!
