Happy World Suicide Prevention Day! As many of you know, suicide is a topic that I hold very near and dear to my heart, so this episode means a lot to me. Today's guest, Laura Bruno, is a current Psychotherapist and former Crisis Worker. She has 10+ years of experience working in the field and is very passionate about both crisis intervention and suicide prevention. In this episode, she explains what a crisis is, how we can support someone going through a difficult time, understanding the difference between self-harm and suicidal ideation, and much more. We talk about the role that the supporter plays in crisis and emphasize things like maintaining boundaries, asking the right questions, and knowing the appropriate "next steps". Although this episode doesn't necessarily focus on the individual who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts, please know that you are not alone and there are people out there willing to sit through your pain with you. Trigger warning: suicide and self-harm are discussed in detail in this conversation. Please take a moment to check in with yourself before listening to this episode to ensure that you are in a good headspace to receive this information. A list of resources (not exhaustive) has been provided below in case anything comes up for you during this conversation or just to save for future use. Thank you for being a part of changing the way think about and approach the topic of suicide. Be sure to follow us on social media @therevolutionizedmind & @your.anxiety.therapist, and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on whatever platform you're listening on!
