When elements are used to represent mental health, most commonly the four classical elements of fire, water, earth, and air are referenced, often drawing on the concept of balance and how disruptions in these elements can symbolize different aspects of mental health struggles, with each element representing a specific emotional state or quality.
Fire:
Often associated with passion, energy, and enthusiasm, but can also represent anger, anxiety, or uncontrolled emotions when imbalanced.
Water:
Represents calmness, fluidity, and adaptability, but can symbolize feelings of depression, sadness, or being overwhelmed when not balanced.
Earth:
Represents grounding, stability, and security, but can represent feelings of stagnation or being stuck when not in balance.
Air:
Associated with clarity, communication, and openness, but can represent feelings of detachment or disconnection when imbalanced.
