Have you ever heard of the arrival fallacy? The arrival fallacy is a term given to the illusion that when you reach some state, attain some possession, or overcome some obstacle, you will reach lasting happiness. It is a fallacy because it’s simply - NOT TRUE.

How often do we do that though? We delay the daily joy we feel today, to one day (hopefully) feel lasting joy. When was the last time you told yourself: “when I finish… I will be happy”; “when I get to the weekend, I can rest”; “when I pass this exam, I will be happy.” We say these types of things to ourselves almost daily!

In this episode, we discuss various points surrounding the arrival fallacy and share a few personal stories when we realized it in our own lives.

We discuss these practical things you can implement into your life to feel more daily joy:

  1. Outdoor movement & getting enough sunlight
  2. Connection - Nurturing the relationships with the people around us.
  3. Growth - Putting yourself in growth situations daily pushes you to feel more joy. In addition, it is important we consistently reflect on the growth we have had.
  4. Survive to others - “For there is no happiness without service…”
  5. Self-Care - When was the last time you engage in some form of self-care?

Thank you for tuning in for this week’s episode! Please rate, review, & share our podcast as we continue to grow! We can’t do this without you.
