I stopped by Niick Niice and Steve Gerard's studio at the Music Garage last week and had so much fun hearing about their new project the Basura Boyz! It's been too long since I hung out with these guys and no surprises it was an amazing interview. 🤩 In 184 we got it all in and discussed: •Becoming the Basura Boyz: Nick and Steve are both very successful DJ/Producers on their own but when they decided to join forces in late 2019, we all knew this was going be a special project that would take them to the next level. Their unique fusion of individual production styles is just as good as the ingredients of a Chicago dog. Not to mention they are both some of the best DJ's I know - the amount of potential they have together is truly limitless. 🌭 •Discography: Although the project is just over a year old, the quality of music they've released is on veteran levels. They've had releases like "Lie Machine" and "Peloton" with Eyes Everywhere via Sollors Systems (shoutout Karsten Sollors), the "Basura Boyz" EP featuring a collab with Wave Point, and "On Your Mind" via Farris Wheel - all of these tracks have a different feel and we took a deep dive into how they all came together. 🎶 •The Future of House Music: We had an exciting discussion on our perspectives of where House Music is going in the near and distant future. Steve comes from the OG generation of house DJ's while Nick and myself represent the new wave - we discussed where some of the strengths and faults lie both from a culture and musical perspective. We are all excited to see what the future holds for house music not only in Chicago, but worldwide. 🌍 If you've been a fan of SITB for the past few years, then you've either seen Nick and Steve on the or at the very least heard me talk about them. I'm such a massive fan of these guys and I can't begin to tell you the HEAT they have coming.🔥 In classic Steve and Nick fashion, they showed me about 40 unreleased Basura Boyz bangers after the interview and my jaw was dropping the whole time. SHEESH! 💥💥 Thanks so much for making the time guys and I can't wait to catch up again soon! 🙌🏻
