183 features one of the most talented and charismatic people in the game - Monoky! I caught up with John over Zoom in his new Miami home and we had such a blast chatting. 😃 In 183 we discussed: •Becoming Monoky: Born and raised in Toledo, OH Monoky has always had music as a major part of his life. He fell in love with house music and DJing during his time in Chicago in the early 2000's and knew that he wanted to pursue this passion full time. He has been cutting his teeth as a DJ/Producer in the scene for a hot minute and now finds himself as a resident at the world renowned Club Space in Miami. Yes, he's crushing it. 🏀 •Discography: It was soooo much fun running through Monoky's impressive discography and getting the scoop on how some of his most prolific tracks came together. I especially loved talking about "Virunga' with Simon Kidzoo via NONSTOP, his collaborations with itsbilly like "Stay Filthy" via Repopulate Mars and "The Realness" via Relief Records, and of course"She Lyin" with Malone via Club Sweat. Not to mention his label "Basica '' which is accepting demos!! 🎶 •Finding Your Stride: Monoky is one of the most humble people I've met in the industry and is the first person to tell you that this does not happen overnight. We shared stories of success and failure and how it's been a long, but fulfilling journey for him. He has been sober for almost 10 years (but crushes Heineken 0) and always makes sure he is surrounded by like-minded, motivated, and joyful people. Now, after years of hard work, he's finally achieving goals he originally set out for on Day 1. 🤩 Monoky is well-known the in house music community for so many reasons - he's an incredible DJ who can play 20 hour solo sets and warm or close the room for acts like the Martinez Brothers, Eric Prydz or Hot Since 82.
