He has been sober for 21 years and is now sharing his story to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol addiction. Alcohol is a factor in causing over 60 medical conditions and is a leading preventable cause of death in the UK, leading to 9000 deaths a year. 40% of violent crimes and sexual offences in the UK are committed by people under the influence of alcohol. With over 7.5 million people showing signs of alcohol addiction, Dr. Patel emphasises the importance of talking about the problem and taking action.
