On this 72nd episode of the podcast, I sit down with Muhsin Corbbrey - a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, kru rank in Muay Thai, and also a pro MMA career. In addition to this, Muhsin is a fourth year doctoral student at the University of Arizona who is studying the effect that exercise and nutrition has on the brain.

Muhsin is one of the most knowledgable folks I've met when it comes to the topic of how martial arts and physical activity impact mental health.

We recorded an episode last year you absolutely need to hear if you train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Muhsin breaks down the science behind BJJ and why it has an addictive effect on many practitioners.

You can listen to that episode here and learn about the science behind Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA):

On this episode, we chat about the latest findings in Muhsin's research into the effects of exercise on the human brain.

We discuss the link that has been found between dopamine production and testosterone and why this is a critical thing to understand for Jiu-Jitsu athletes - especially men.

In this episode, we discuss some examples of whether or not western medicine should be used to solve a problem or whether a more natural alternative might be available.
