God's Goodness #RTTBROS #Nightlight Finding God's Goodness in Every Season "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." - Philippians 4:8 #GratefulHeart #OvercomeNegativity #DailyPraise In the wilderness, God's people often struggled with a peculiar affliction - they saw giants where they should have seen grapes, problems where they should have perceived promises. Sound familiar? Our minds, wonderfully created by God, came equipped with what scientists now call a "negativity bias" - an ancient survival tool that helped our ancestors spot danger and stay alive. But here's the divine paradox: what once preserved us physically can now hinder us spiritually. Think about the twelve spies sent to scout the Promised Land. Ten returned with reports of insurmountable obstacles, while Joshua and Caleb saw the same land through eyes of faith. "We are well able to overcome it," they declared (Numbers 13:30). What made the difference? Their focus. Just as our ancestors needed heightened awareness of dangers, we once required this keen eye for the negative. But now, in Christ, we're called to a higher perspective. The Lord commands us to "give thanks in everything" (1 Thessalonians 5:18), not because everything is good, but because He is good in everything. When we find ourselves caught in the trap of negativity bias, remember: - God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7) - We're transformed by the renewing of our mind (Romans 12:2) - The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10) Prayer Point: Lord, help me recognize when my ancient survival instincts overshadow Your eternal promises. Transform my tendency to spot problems into an ability to see possibilities. Let my first response be gratitude, not critique. In Jesus' name, Amen. Today's Challenge: Write down three blessings you might have overlooked today. Train your mind to seek evidence of God's goodness as diligently as it once sought signs of danger. Remember, a heart trained in gratitude becomes a beacon of His glory. Our testimony isn't just in surviving life's challenges, but in finding reasons to praise even amidst them.
