Faith In Action #RTTBROS #Nightlight Faith in Action: When Prayer Meets Purpose "Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." - James 2:17 (KJV) How often have we heard the phrase "I'll pray about it" and left it at that? While prayer is undoubtedly the bedrock of our Christian walk, the Lord calls us to a faith that moves mountains not just through our prayers, but through our hands and feet as well. Consider Moses at the Red Sea. When faced with the advancing Egyptian army, the Lord didn't simply tell Moses to pray – though prayer was certainly part of the equation. Instead, God commanded in Exodus 14:15-16: "And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it." This powerful moment teaches us that while prayer opens the doorway to God's power, He often expects us to take the first step in faith. Just as Moses had to lift his rod, we too must lift our hands in both prayer and action. In our modern context, this principle applies perfectly to our civic duties. When we see challenges in our nation, our first response should indeed be to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). However, prayer should propel us into action, not paralyze us into passivity. Consider Nehemiah. Before rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, he first prayed fervently. But then what did he do? He approached the king, organized the people, and picked up stones himself. He demonstrated that prayer and action are two wings of the same bird – both are necessary for flight. Take a moment to reflect: - Are there areas in your life where you've substituted prayer for action? - What steps can you take today to put your prayers into motion? - How can you better serve God and your community through both prayer and practical engagement? Prayer: Father, grant us wisdom to know when to pray and when to act, and the courage to do both. Help us to be like Jesus, who both prayed in the garden and then walked purposefully toward His destiny. Guide us in being both people of prayer and people of purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen. Action Step: Identify one area where you've been "just praying" about something. Write down one tangible step you can take this week to partner with God in answering that prayer. #PrayerInAction #FaithAtWork #VoteAndPray Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros
