In this conversation, Craig talks with Bryce Clark about the experience of practicing Parkour in New York City. Bryce describes the city's variety of design and how it offers many opportunities for Parkour enthusiasts, as well as the challenges that come with constantly changing spaces. They also discuss the potential for improvement in some areas of the city. Join them as they explore the world of Parkour in the Big Apple.

Exploring the World of Parkour in New York City

Bryce Clark is a Parkour enthusiast, and he's found the perfect place to practice his craft: New York City. "There's jumps everywhere, with the way the city and the architectures designed," he says. And the abundance of public spaces and playgrounds only add to the opportunities for Parkour.

But New York is not without its challenges. The constant change of spaces can be frustrating for Bryce and other enthusiasts. "The one downside is they keep changing the same ones over and over," he notes. And while some areas are ripe for exploration, others that could benefit from renovation are not always given the attention they deserve.

Despite these challenges, Bryce is grateful for the opportunities that New York City provides for Parkour. "I think they're constantly reinventing ways to create space where they can manifest as much as possible within a small area, but still make it feel like it's open," he says. And the use of scaffolding in the city only adds to the possibilities for Parkour, providing new challenges and opportunities for enthusiasts to explore.

In the end, Bryce is thrilled to be practicing Parkour in New York City. "It's the Big Apple, it's New York City, and I lose sight of the fact that it's quite a privilege of mine, that I can just go there," he says. For Bryce and other enthusiasts, the city offers endless opportunities for exploration and growth in the world of Parkour.

--- Hello👋 I'm Craig Constantine.

In the Movers Mindset podcast, I talk with movement enthusiasts to learn who they are, what they do, and why they do it. I'm interested in the nature and philosophy of movement and in exploring themes like independence, self-direction, and human excellence. My interests color each conversation and provide some structure to Movers Mindset. But since I like to take the scenic route, every conversation ends up going somewhere unique.

The purpose of Movers Mindset is to create and share great conversations with movement enthusiasts. Each conversation feeds my insatiable curiosity, but I share them to turn on a light for someone else, to inspire them, or to give them their next question.

I appreciate your time and attention, and I don’t take it for granted.

--- Thank you!

My personal mission is creating better conversations to spread understanding and compassion. And Movers Mindset is one of the things I do in service of my mission. Drop by https://craigconstantine.com/ for my weekly email, my other podcasts, writing and more.

The Movers Mindset project grew from conversations I started having as part of my personal journey rediscovering movement. The project started late in 2015, and it was initially simply a web site that shared others’ writing. The project grew, and in 2017 I started the podcast. I’ve worked extremely hard, but none of this would have been possible without so much help from so many people.

Thanks for listening!
