With growing concerns about racism in America, doctors have the professional mandate to advocate for health equity as part of the oath we take to do no harm. But when race is used in medical practice and research, it’s often utilized poorly and inaccurately—as a genetic variable. This is to the detriment of our patients, and fails to equip our trainees with the ability to truly comprehend and challenge racial health inequities.

Medicine is messing up. We need a more critical and compassionate medical education if we want to push towards justice. In this talk, hear about why it matters how we discuss race and racism, and learn more about what we can do to bring ourselves and our patients closer to health, and closer to freedom.
