Will Rucker interviews Jennifer Schwartz about how she puts empathy into action and why she has devoted herself to helping others feel better and be better. Jennifer Schwartz is the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors who were liberated from concentration camps by the allies and immigrated to the United States in 1949 where they worked in Flint, MI, at tailor shops and in the automotive industry. She was born and raised in Las Vegas, and graduated from Valley High School and UNLV Boyd School of Law in 2002. Following law school, Jennifer’s first job was with then District Court 17 Judge Michael Cherry. She worked for a civil law firm for one year and has been with the Clark County Public Defender's Office since 2004.

Currently, Jennifer is running for the vacant seat in District Court 17, trying to go “home” where her legal career started. Jennifer has also done significant community service. She has been a youth director with Midbar Kodesh, volunteered with the JustOne project, Family Promise, Spring Valley Little League, volunteered at Walter Bracken Elementary School, Clark County School District Truancy Diversion Program, and Legal Aid of Southern Nevada.

Jennifer has been married for 21 years and has a 12-year-old, 7th-grade son.
