Host Elizabeth Esty, MD sits down with Dr. Don Stader, Dr. Caitline Dietsche and Dr. Cathy O’Neil to discuss the Colorado Hospital Association's opioid prescribing guidelines for hospitalists. Dr. Don Stader is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine and the editor in chief for all of the Colorado's CURE Guidelines, Dr. Caitlin Dietsche is a hospitalist and assistant professor at University of Colorado and Dr. Cathy O’Neil is a hospitalist at Longmont United Hospital.
Colorado's CURE focuses on four pillars:
- Limiting the use of opioids in clinical practice
- Using multimodal alternatives to opioids (ALTO) to better treat pain without the risks that come with opioids
- Harm Reduction
- Improving care for those who have developed an opioid use disorder
