This is a discussion with Dr. Nathaniel Morris about how mental health interfaces with the legal and criminal justice system. Mental illness is closely related to the criminal justice system, and while discussed socially and in the media, the intricacies of the legal system itself are difficult to understand. Dr. Nathaniel Morris is a fourth-year resident physician in psychiatry and chief resident for Stanford inpatient psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Before his residency training, he graduated from Cornell University and Harvard Medical School. He has written about mental health care, medical education, and health policy for academic journals and popular press.
