Chapter 1:What's the Book Animal Farm about

"Animal Farm" is a classic allegorical novella written by George Orwell. Published in 1945, the book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer in order to establish an egalitarian society. The animals overthrow Mr. Jones, the owner of Manor Farm, and rename it Animal Farm as a symbol of their newfound freedom.
Led by the pigs, particularly the intelligent and persuasive boar named Old Major, the animals come together with the goal of creating a fair and equal society where every animal has a voice. They adopt the Seven Commandments, which encapsulate their principles of equality and liberation.
However, as time passes, a power struggle emerges among the animals, and the cleverest pig, Napoleon, seizes control, gradually transforming Animal Farm into a dictatorship. The once-idealistic principles are twisted, and the original commandments are revised to suit the pigs' self-interests.
Throughout the narrative, Orwell uses the animals and their interactions to satirize and criticize the corruption and hypocrisy of totalitarian regimes, particularly the events leading up to and during the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin. The characters in "Animal Farm" represent historical figures, such as Josef Stalin, Leon Trotsky, and other key figures of the Russian Revolution.
The book serves as a cautionary tale about the potential dangers of revolutions and the perversion of ideals when power is concentrated in the hands of a few. It explores themes of political corruption, oppression, manipulation, and the importance of individual freedom.
