Welcome to Beyond the Numbers, a podcast series exploring the sensitive but important topic of weight bias. For people with type 2 diabetes, or T2D, and excess weight, their experiences with seeking care can often involve experiences of weight bias and weight stigma. In these episodes, we will discuss how these biases may impact a person’s treatment journey and even treatment outcomes. We will also discuss ways that healthcare professionals and people with T2D and excess weight can have more effective weight management conversations during clinical interactions. We will explore what may contribute to the challenging nature of these sensitive conversations, examine what the American Diabetes Association guidelines recommend about weight management conversations, and discuss best practices for navigating these conversations. This podcast is intended for healthcare professional audiences only. This presentation is supported by and made on behalf of Eli Lilly and Company. Presentation content has been reviewed for consistency with FDA guidelines and is not approved for continuing medical education credit.
