Rita: Chole you have an incredible story. When Chloe was 12 years old, she decided she was transgender. At 13, she came out to her parents. That same year, she was put on puberty blockers and prescribed testosterone. At 15, she underwent a double mastectomy. Less than a year later, she realized she’d made a mistake — all by the time she was 16 years old.
Richard: This week on Mind Matters – Counseled Culture, Licensed Counselor and Author Rita Schulte and me Richard Beattie talk to Chloe Cole about the long-term affects of what it means to be Trans before you are equipped to make that decision.
Richard: There are a lot of stories out there that come to a convenient one size fits all mentality. From both sides of any issue the pressure to be who you feel like at any given age or time is met with enthusiastic acceptance and encouragement. Even when that individual is a child. In a culture that is at war with each other, over politics, religion, education and public policy, what are the long-term outcomes and when does the value of humanity get marginalized as a commodity based on who we are who we become?
