Truth- Ever since becoming a mom, pediatrician chats are some of my favorite ones. So for this weeks super interesting convo, Dr. Joel Walsh AKA DR. Gator joins us to talk about all things parenting and childhood. Dr. Gator is a board certified pediatrician and the author of his newly launched book, Parenting at Your Child’s Pace: The Integrative Pediatrician’s Guide to the First Three Years. Dr. Gator‘s approach to parenting and pediatrics are similar, trust your gut and go back to the basics. He stresses the importance of being a parent that cares for your own mental health and well being and the benefits that has on your kids in return. In a world where information. Overload is at and all time high , i asked Dr gator what he says to parents, like myself, who might feel overwhelmed by all that is being thrown at us daily on social media and in the world. Dr gator reminds us that doing what’s best for our families and our kids is the greatest way to we can raise our kids and giving ourselves grace as we learn is super important as well. One of the big issues he touches on in his book is the spike in chronic health issues in kids. He refers to them as the S.E.E.D.S of wellbeing: Stress, Environment, Exercise, Diet, and Sleep. Dr. Gator expands on these in today’s episode and encourages parents to prioritize these S.E.E.D.S in their lives and their children’s lives. To learn more, make sure to check out Dr. Gator’s book at the link below.
