Black families love and affirm their LGBTQ kids. This isn’t a narrative we hear often. But those of us who know, know that love is Black family tradition. While some families are still on a journey to love and affirmation, we know that every Black family, with the right support, has the capacity to show up in the ways their LGBTQ kids need.
Affirming Black Families is a program of Blaq Equity Baltimore that seeks to resource and support existing Black LGBTQ families, and create new ones. This includes non-LGBTQ Black parents and caregivers of LGBTQ kids, Black LGBTQ parents of non-LGBTQ kids, or Black LGBTQ parents with LGBTQ kids.
