JPII domestic church. Liturgy of the Church informs the domestic church.
- Define Liturgy/ worship, with the lens of Christ
Liturgy; From the Greek laos, meaning people and ergon meaning work, in general, refers to public service. In the Christian tradition (Christ lens) tradition, it is the participation of the people of God in the redemptive work of God through the public worship of the Church. Sometimes the word for ‘liturgy” is used as a synonym for the Mass. (CCC# 1069-1070)[1]
Liturgy is not about us but about God.[2]
Worship- The Olde English for ‘worship of honor” refers to the adoration and honor given to God. Worship may be: (1) private, when an individual personally chooses a time and place to adore God; or (2) public, when the liturgy and sacraments are celebrated by a group of people (CCC# 2096)[3]
>public/ private, worship/ liturgy
III. Contrast to other types of liturgies, non-Christian
There is a universal need of people to gather publicly for a spiritual, transcendental purpose. Some theologians[4] have considered the gathering around sports events as a type of worship. The forms, rules, dress, public participation, symbols, language varies according to the mode of liturgy.
Correlation, interesting, grandson baptized, not Christan at all came to baptism, I’m not religious, if I go to Church, it would be the Catholic Mass, because of the aspects of sports teams
Religious, want external vestiges but lack faith. See sports cultural habituated, a Band of Brothers. Ex/ Green Bay Packers immediate enjoyment, bon ami, comradery from communal gathering. Lacking is supernatural faith, hope, charity. Parroted in a good way.
Use positive aspects for the greater public good.
