Globally, the incidence of HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancer has increased over the past few decades, to a greater degree among young adults. Even more shocking is HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer has surpassed that of cervical cancers. Nearly 45,000 cancers are attributed to HPV infection in the United States annually, with almost half of these being oropharyngeal oriented.
