Resilience Mindset

Born with multiple health problems including a mild form of cerebral palsy causing problems with walking resulting in foot reconstruction as a toddler and learning difficulties as a child, including speech therapy Matthew hasn’t known any different from having to live a physically disadvantaged life.

As a child, he was diagnosed with Leukaemia and was put on an aggressive regime of experimental drugs with his parent thinking they had nothing to lose

.Fortunately, although it was touch and go for several years, close to death many times, Matthew pulled through not once, but twice as his cancer manifested as testicular cancer in his early teens.

After a victory over cancer growing up as a teen into adulthood Matthew

never felt he fit in, carrying his lack of social skills due to missing so much, he has always been socially awkward but learnt to overcome it somewhat in his later years.

In his 30s he developed cardiomyopathy, heart failure a lifelong condition with no cure, which some think could be somewhat attributed to the trauma of experimental, but lifesaving, treatment as a child 🤷‍♂️

Despite all this, Matthew has shown tremendous resilience and built his own business, Impressions design Creative services, as well as a supportive business community around him, the Geelong Small Business Network.

He has been married since 2003, to the same woman, 😂🤣 and couldn’t have children due to childhood cancer but is grateful for the great life he has lived regardless of what he’s left behind. Life is for living in the present, not the past or future.
