When I was a little girl, I, like most young girls, was sorely lacking a clear understanding of my own body, how it worked, what changes I could expect it to undergo, and so much more. I learned some things about puberty in school, from friends, from my older sister… but I wish I had had a really clear guide that laid it all out. Fast forward to 2022, and I learn that a dear friend of mine from my childhood wrote a book about puberty for pre-teen and teen girls, exactly what I needed, and her book was banned in Florida! Dr. Lisa Klein joins us to discuss:

  • Starting the conversation about puberty with your children when they are young, piece by piece like building blocks. You shouldn’t have “the talk” once and be done with it.
  • Ways to talk with your child about puberty and sex without making it uncomfortable for you or them.
  • Answers to some questions your girls might ask that you might not be prepared for.
  • Navigating social media and porn with your child.
  • Teaching puberty to both pre-teens, teens and parents to help create an open conversation between parents and kids so they will feel comfortable asking questions about their body as they get older.
  • Finding out that her book was banned in some parts of Florida, and having her op-ed published in one of the biggest media outlets in the world.
