Your Church Friends Podcast was started in hopes of helping Christians and non-Christians alike see God, Jesus, and the church through a Biblical lens. We cover a multitude of topics, ideas, theologies, and thoughts. We try our best to have honest and genuine conversations about them all. My name is Steve Weaver. I am a church historian with a PhD in Church History. Along my academic and spiritual journey I have been blessed with God with many friendships that have made an impact on me. I want to host conversations on this channel with some of my friends who happen to be church historians. We'll talk about how we met, how our lives and academic careers have intersected, and discuss history. Hopefully, others will find it interesting, but, regardless, I will enjoy it!

Speaker: Jeff Jarvis & Vince Klassen Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve discussed two forms of insecure attachment: Avoidant and Anxious. Two common relational patterns that, when unaware, can create some Relation$hit. This Sunday though, we’re going to study a third style of attachment that has a much more positive effect on relationships: Secur…

Speaker: Jeff Jarvis Join us this Sunday for week three of our Relation$hit series. We’re exploring the inner world of those who Anxiously attach to others. Speaker: Vince Klassen This week on our “Relation$hit” series, we’re delving into how to love others in a way that truly connects. Our focus this week might seem counterintuitive: we’re exploring a group of people who often navigate the world alone. They don’t seem to need much from anyone, projecting an image of independence and strength. Yet, ben…

Genealogies might be considered some of the most mundane parts of the Bible, yet God saw fit to include them. They're simply lists of names, so why are genealogies so important, especially when it comes to the genealogy of Jesus? For Luke, he strategically pauses at the end of chapter 3 to provide us with Jesus’ genealogy, revealing who Jesus' Fath…

Speaker: Vince Klassen Jesus once said, “Love your neighbor.” It’s a simple yet profound teaching, but it’s not always easy to put into practice. Loving others—no matter who they are—requires both skill and the capacity to do that skill – the willingness, the motivation and the energy. This week, we’re going to focus on building our capacity for lo…
