XRadio is proud to bring you The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara – XRadio’s Featured Artists of the Month for October 2020!

The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara (TCOMAS) are a London-based duo formed in late 2019 by Andrea Papi and Daphne Ang. Inspired by the musical innovations of Kraftwerk and TOOL and the poetry of Sylvia Plath, Virginia Woolf and Jim Morrison. TCOMAS continues to fill a gap in music by bringing together music, literature, art and history into a space where poetry and the spoken word meets electronic and rock. The London duo have carved out a niche in music with their extensive, mysterious and atmospheric soundscapes which defy the rigid categorization of musical genres. In particular, the pair incorporates the literary (poetic and dramatic) into their music whereby spoken passages alternated with lyrical poetry forms the central element of the vocal component. Their experimental style has been recognized by several notable music blogs.

Our upcoming release (16 October 2020), “Mata Hari” (meaning “sun” in Malay) reimagines the sound of the ‘80s in the year 2080. The song is told through the eyes of an artist, who creates a painting as a declaration of love and as a testament to the intensity of emotions and feelings (for another) when words and action were inadequate.
The track has been inspired by synthesizer maestro Giorgio Moroder and innovators like Depeche Mode, Stanley Kubrick, and Air.
