EP115 WTF in Vanadiel Is Set Brewing?

WTF in Vanadiel - An FFXI Podcast

Get your IPA on because we have some Big Juicy set brewing to do.
Process:
step1: what do you need to accomplish?
i) what does this set do? (if this is a paragraph when written out, or even a sentence that requires punctuation beyond a "." then you are probably lost in the sauce)
ii) what do you want it to do? (this is where your paragraph goes if you were writing it out) iii) anything that stops you from making it?
step2: evaluate niche pieces that might contribute to your plan
i) take inventory of gear you have which may accomplish this (form a gear skeleton)
ii) research how the mechanic you are building around works (then I'll form the head!)
iii) acquire what you need --improvisation (next best piece) --elbow grease (go get the piece you need)
iv) put flesh on the skeleton (use excess slots to maximize the generality of the set as best as possible) --if this is a subtle blow set what general activity does it apply to? --if this is "x" set what general activity does it apply to? (in its general form; wants outputs such as: TP phase, Idle, Tanking, Kiting, Enfeebling, etc)
step3: error correction
i) cross the T's and dot the i's (make sure the mechanical details are covered: gear haste, DT needed, recheck particular values you were trying to hit, etc)
ii) assess set weaknesses that may need to be addressed with specific buffs/food/playstyle --example: when we roll up on a gaol NM, do we have to provide our own bar-element or is it being provided by support?
step4: field test
i) did the set actually do the thing you wanted?
ii) was there an unforseen issue? --how will you address it? --do you need to restart and rebrew? (it happens, not all ideas are golden)
step5: revise (repeat steps 1~4)
