Protests against police violence have coalesced in recent weeks into a movement to defund the NYPD and transfer needed resources to education and other vital services. While activists are disappointed with the budget passed this past week by the City Council, the struggle continues. This week Lupita and Danny speak with Ronnie Almonte, a member of the Movement of Rank and File Educators, a social justice caucus inside the United Federation of Teachers. Ronnie will talk to us what this current moment can mean for the long fight against racism in New York City's public education system. Lupita and Danny also run down some headlines from the past week - including the physical attack by a stranger on our last guest, Robert Cuffy, while at the Defund the NYPD & Abolisht he Police march on June 29th.
