In this episode with Kokila Alagh, we learn all there is to know about digital technology law. She shares how being curious and the importance of raising voice about things happening around led her to choose law as a profession. She mentions how working consistently in multiple law firms for a long period of time helped her develop strong entrepreneurial skills and her formidable experience in the region as both a lawyer and an entrepreneur, enabled her to start her own legal consultancy firm KARM. Moreover she talks about how the firm deals with its clients giving them legal advice, offering the best solutions and enabling them to understand the risks associated with digital technology like Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, Data Protection etc.
Kokila Alagh is a Corporate/Commercial and technology lawyer with over 17 years of experience in the middle east. She has worked with major corporations, government and semi government bodies, high net worth individuals and start-ups over the years. In addition to this, she has Masters in Law, in Digital Economy from the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, certification of Oxford Blockchain Strategy Programme from Oxford University and Fintech Programme from Harvard Business School has helped her develop an expertise in the area of newer technologies. She is the founder and CEO of a legal consultancy firm KARM. KARM provides legal advice on Fintech Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Data Protection, AI Robo-advisory and open banking. Under the mentorship of Kokila, the firm has advise multiple crypto-exchanges, token offerings (STO/UTO), consortium/enterprise blockchains, crowdfunding platforms and payment gateways for legally setting up and operating in the region and beyond. She also has significant experience in investments, incorporations, joint ventures, project finance and private equity transactions. Kokila is also the head of policy and governance vertical for the MENA Fintech Association.
