Daesha Gear is the Editor in Chief of The Daily Aztec, a former digital intern at NBC 7, and set to gradate in the Spring of 2024. Daesha gives us a current student's perspective on the state of student journalism, how technology is changing how stories are covered, and the latest on SDSU's School of Journalism and Media Studies.
Gear became the first Black woman to lead SDSU's student newspaper in the 110-year history. She tells us the process of getting the job, her favorite classes on campus, and the biggest stories on campus this semester.
"Where Ya At?" is a podcast focused on the School of Journalism and Media Studies at San Diego State University. Each week, during the Fall and Spring semesters, host Josh Suchon (Class of 1996) interviews alumni to learn about their experiences as college students, entering the workforce, key steps in their professional development, advice they'd give to current students, and details about how they covered a specific story.
