Good morning, weather watchers! This is your New Year's Day forecast coming to you live from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.
Bundle up, folks, because winter is definitely knocking on our door today! We've got a chilly start with temperatures hovering around 37 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect some west winds blowing at 13 to 16 miles per hour, with gusts that could reach up to 26 miles per hour.
There's a slight chance of a weather mix today - we might see some rain showers in the morning, transitioning to snow showers later in the day. Talk about a meteorological mood swing!
Tonight, we're looking at mostly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping down to around 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Those west winds will continue to dance around at about 11 miles per hour.
As we roll into Thursday, expect a bit of sunshine breaking through with partly sunny skies and a high near 35 degrees Fahrenheit. But don't get too comfortable - Thursday night brings a 40 percent chance of snow, with potential accumulations between one to two inches.
Friday continues the winter theme with a chance of snow in the morning, temperatures maxing out near 31 degrees Fahrenheit. The weekend looks slightly calmer but still cold, with Saturday's high barely reaching 25 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sunday and Monday are looking particularly snowy, with a 30 to 60 percent chance of snowfall. So, keep those winter boots and warm layers ready!
