Ephesians - Part 3: Unity, Revelation & Power || Sam Taylor
Manage episode 398330065 series 1842221
Sunday 28th January, 2024 - West & North Sites Sunday 4th February 2024 - Central Site AM&PM Speaker - Sam Taylor The final verses of Ephesians chapter 1 are Paul's prayer for the church at Ephesus. Sam points out that Paul emphasises the value of the Ephesian Christians, and tells them that he prays for them continually. In this, he is a model for how we should think of our brothers and sisters in Christ - that we should value them, encourage them, and pray for them - even though they can sometimes be irritating, or worse! Paul continues his prayer, asking the Lord to open their eyes to see and understand all the blessings he has already spoken of in the previous verses of the chapter. Finally, Sam takes us through Paul's description of the mighty power of God, demonstrated when He raised Jesus from the dead, and reminds us that the same incomparably great power is available to us, through Jesus. As Paul says, God has put all things under the feet of Jesus - we are His body, so if all things are under His feet, then all things are also under us, His Church. Ephesians 1v15-23 15) For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16) I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17) I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. 18) I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, 19) and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20) He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, 21) far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22) And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, 23) which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way. ------- Recorded at North Site - 28Jan2024
