This one dropped late because a variety of reasons but boom! great and interesting stuff! Akio James is a percussionist, student, dj and experimental music artist. Over the last several months he's been organizing improv sessions with Japanese musicians using a 360° camera and an ambisonic microphone to share on YouTube. In between performing, he's also working towards his master's degree in computer science/ engineering with a thesis focused on creating an augmented reality polyrhythmic metronome. Really interesting stuff. We also talk about what is experimental music. We get into all that along side friend of the show- guest co-host, Aaron Choulai. Listeners will recognize Aaron from several episodes. Aaron is a pianist, producer/beatmaker, and head of Namboku Records. He introduced me to James a few months back. The musical bed is brought to you by Subnet and Namboku Records. Here we preview Subnets new project releasing next month called Out the Tape Vol.1. Check out Akio James and his 360 degree ambisonic experimental improv sessions "Avant Chop" over on youtube @dj_divorce @Aaronchoulai @nambokurecords
