If it feels like you've heard this week's episode of The Voice of the Turtle before, well... you haven't. But it might sound a bit similar to some of our previous shows because, once again, our beloved Detroit Tigers just can't quite string enough wins together to edge themselves ahead in the AL playoff picture. Missed opportunities, inconsistent play, and a general bewilderment cloud this week's show, as Rob and Hookslide are still trying to decipher just exactly how good this Tigers team is. Of course, a lot of that bewilderment comes in the form of one big decision: Jordan Zimmermann's ill-timed start on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. He was predictably clobbered in a game the Tigers really could have used, yet the Tigers didn't realize their mistake until after it was too late. Who was at fault here? What should the Tigers have done differently? Will they ever really learn from their mistakes? We tackle all these questions, along with those provided by you, the listener, in our Into the Mob Scene segment! Topics in this week's episode include: - Which is better: Little League, or the 2016 Tigers? - The last week of baseball was no bueno - Frustration, frustration, frustration - At least this Bruce Rondon guy is pretty good - What happened to JaCoby Jones? - Can the Tigers still win the division (spoiler: no) - Why Jordan Zimmermann made his start on Saturday despite all fans saying "Noooooo!" - Listener questions! - What will the starting rotation look like in 2017? Contents: 3:03 - Rounding the Bases: Hashtag Urgency 24:21 - Warming in the Pen: the reckoning is upon us 39:34 - High and Tight: ZIMMERMAAAAAAANNNN! 52:51 - Into the Mob Scene at Home: there’s always 2017 – wait, what?
