Hard to believe it's been 50 episodes since we kicked off this podcast as "The Voice of the Turtle" in the summer of 2015. We saw the team tank, we saw the team rebound, we saw the team make a run at the postseason this year, and -- if Al Avila's latest comments are to be taken literally -- we're about to watch the team go through something like a rebuild process. (But don't call it that. Please don't call it that.) So much for a slow and boring offseason, eh? In this, our fiftieth episode, HookSlide and Rob try to make sense out of Al Avila's promise to make the team both "leaner" and "younger" this offseason, a process that he says will take some time, and may be painful at certain points. So what's that mean? Who's getting traded? Who's staying? Is this a departure from the two-year plan, or part of it? Will Justin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera still be Tigers when spring training arrives next year? (Yes. Obviously. Don't be foolish.) And then we answered a bunch of listener questions and called it a good day, because both of us wanted to watch the World Series. Topic include: - Al Avila's "changes are coming" comments - Who's getting traded - Who's not getting traded - Why not just keep the team together one more year? - Who are the Tigers' potential trade partners? - Are J.D. Martinez and Ian Kinsler the first to go? - Are Christin Stewart and Joe Jimenez ready to step up and play MLB ball next year? Contents: 4:03 - Rounding the Bases: getting leaner, getting younger 41:52 - Into the Mob Scene: preparing for change
