"Socio-digital Futures," explores the impact of technology on education, particularly emphasizing the potential for digital tools to exacerbate existing inequalities. I argue that education should not become a marketplace for profit-seeking industries but rather a space where social justice and technological innovation coexist in balance. In the article that inspired this podcast (you can read it in full here: https://tinyurl.com/3tn64b8h ), I examine four key themes: Reparation, urging us to design algorithms that acknowledge and redress historical inequities; Sovereignty, advocating for communities to control their data and reclaim ownership of their information; Care, emphasising the need for technologies that are designed to promote well-being and ethical responsibility; and Democratisation, suggesting that EdTech should be participatory and built with, rather than for, its users. I conclude that the future of education depends on the choices we make about technology, and I encourage us all to become active participants in shaping its trajectory.
