For this week’s episode, we linked up with our guest Kaz (@King_gr8tness) take a deep dive into Childish Gambino’s third album Awaken, My Love. Released in 2016 following rumors of the project and a unique album cover release through his show Atlanta, Awaken My Love is the artist’s departure from Hip Hop and a transition into Gambino’s ear for more soulful sounds. However, along with several nods to the Funk era of the past, this album reinforces love, pain, and societal issues that continue to haunt us in the present. To make things more interesting, we narrowed our number of favorite songs to 2, making the decisions much tougher on this very beautiful but brief project.
